  • Be specific. Avoid vague statements and focus on providing precise information about your research and findings.
  • Highlight novelty and impact: Emphasize what makes your research unique and how it contributes to existing knowledge or practice.
  • Proofread. Ensure your abstract is error-free in terms of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Get feedback. Ask colleagues or mentors to review your abstract and provide constructive criticism.

Abstracts undergo a rigorous evaluation process to ensure the quality, relevance, and the originality of the presentations to be given at IMMUNOLOGY2026™. Approximately 18-20% of all submissions receive an invitation to present a podium presentation.

There is a preliminary check to ensure all abstracts meet the basic requirements, including appropriateness to the selected topic category. Qualified reviewers with expertise in the relevant fields/topic categories are selected and assigned to evaluate submitted abstracts based on these factors. Each abstract typically undergoes evaluation by two or three reviewers to ensure fairness and objectivity. Reviewers are recused from submissions if the reviewer is named as a first/co-author or has a familiarity with the first author.

Reviewers evaluate abstracts based on established criteria, including:

  • Originally and Innovation: Does the abstract present novel insights, approaches or findings that advance the field?
  • Clarity and Coherence: Is the abstract well organized, logically structured, and easy to understand?
  • Relevance to the Meeting: How well does the research align with the meeting’s focus areas/topic categories?
  • Methodological Soundness: Are the research methods appropriate, well-described, and likely to yield reliable and valid results?
  • Contribution to the Research Area: What is the potential impact of the research on the field?

Exceptional abstracts that are submitted during the regular submission period are assigned by reviewers to present in a podium presentation in Block Symposium. Trainees (as defined by AAI) can also be considered for a podium presentation in Major Symposium.
