This immersive program provides undergraduate students opportunities to learn about current immunology research, share their own research, learn how to navigate a scientific meeting, practice professional communication skills, and build supportive relationships with peers and mentors. This event is free for undergraduate attendees.

NextGen Immunologists Day at  IMMUNOLOGY2026™

NextGen Immunologists Day welcomes undergraduate students into the immunology community through a full day of hands-on learning, scientific exploration, and meaningful connection.

This immersive program provides opportunities to learn about current immunology research, share one’s own research, learn how to navigate a scientific meeting, practice professional communication skills, and build supportive relationships with peers and mentors.

Through poster activities, guided walks, networking, demonstrations, and simulations, students gain the confidence, clarity, and community support they need as they explore their future in science.

Registration: Complimentary for undergraduate students. Please note registration for this event is separate from main meeting registration. Students who wish to attend the broader IMMUNOLOGY2026™ meeting must register separately.

Activities 

9:30–10:10 AM — Arrival and Community Building 

Students check in, meet peers, and participate in interactive activities designed to help them feel welcomed and connected. 

10:15–11:15 AM — “Meet the Scientist” Speed Networking 

A fast-paced, structured networking session where students rotate through brief conversations with scientists at a variety of career stages. 

11:45 AM–12:15 PM — Guided Poster Walks 

Small groups of undergraduates are led through the poster floor by mentor-scientists who point out highlights, model how to engage with presenters, and share tips for navigating poster sessions. 

1:45–2:15 PM — “How to Apply to Graduate School” Workshop 

A guided, interactive session where students learn the graduate school application process step-by-step and practice a component of the application in real time.

2:30–3:15 PM — Hands-On Simulations & Demonstrations 

Interactive, tactile stations that reinforce key immunology concepts in an engaging and memorable way.

3:30–4:30 PM — Poster Showcase 

Undergraduate participants present their research during a supportive scientific poster session designed to build communication skills and confidence.
